My Journey: Dr. Gongura Venkateswarlu (GV) – A Life Dedicated to Service

From a young age, I believed that true happiness lies in serving others. Growing up in Telangana, witnessing the challenges faced by ordinary families—especially in healthcare—sparked a lifelong commitment to make a difference. I am Dr. Gongura Venkateswarlu, MBBS, DA, MD (Emergency Medicine), Managing Director of Sriraksha Hospital in Khammam. Over the last two decades, my journey has been one of learning, growing, and uplifting communities through medicine, charity, and social activism. ## Vision and Values My vision has always been simple: **quality healthcare should be accessible to all, regardless of wealth or geography.** As a physician trained at Harvard Medical School and various hospitals in India, I have witnessed both the power and limitations of medical science. I realized that compassion, transparency, and trust are as critical as clinical knowledge. ## Service Highlights At Sriraksha Hospital, we have set new standards in emergency and critical care, made possible by a passionate team and cutting-edge technology. We do not charge consultation fees, run free medical camps in remote areas, and have launched a 24x7 free medical helpline to ensure help is available whenever needed. Over 3,000 lives have been saved under our emergency care; we have completed more than 40,000 dialysis sessions and 10,000 surgeries. Every patient is a story—a family whose hopes are restored and whose dignity is protected. ## Social Initiatives Philanthropy is at the heart of my work. Sriraksha Charity, established in 2008, supports health, nutrition, and disaster relief, touching thousands of lives. We have adopted orphanages, helped rebuild flood-affected communities, and provided free food and medicines during crises like Covid-19. Education for the underprivileged is another passion. I have personally contributed to developing Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalayam, ensuring better opportunities for rural children. ## Leadership and Advocacy I am active in public life, serving as BJP State Council Member, President of Ramakrishna Vidyalayam, and ex-president of VHP and Lions Club, Khammam. Political activism allows me to bring grassroots challenges to policy tables, ensuring the voices of the backward classes and marginalized are heard. Environmental causes, such as Sadhguru’s Rally for Rivers, and pollution awareness campaigns, are very close to my heart. I believe that a healthy society must also care for its environment. ## Why I Share My Story I share my journey not to seek admiration but to inspire others—especially young doctors, students, and community volunteers—to act with courage and compassion.
